What does dreamsbox do?
Dreamsbox allows you to anonymously share dreams/ nightmares. You may also browse and read other people's dreams in addition to rating them. We recently added the option for you to create your own private dream diary, allowing you to keep a record of all your dreams and to share it with friends and family through your own personal dream portal. Enjoy.

Why was dreamsbox built?
We think that dreams are interesting because they twist reality and allow people to be in different dimensions. Sharing dreams is always fun. This is a project brought to you by few people who sat around one day and pondered how great it would be to be able to document the world's dreams. Our purpose is to create an extensive dream database for you and millions of others to enjoy.

Am I truly anonymous?
Yes.

Am I anonymous in my dreamslog?
Yes, you're anonymous. Your dreamslog is your private dream diary. We have no idea who you are. The only thing that we have on record is the email address that you use to sign in. But even with this, we have no idea who you are. We only use the email address to forward to you a new password if you forget your old one.

While signed into my dreamslog, if I decide to switch over to sinsbox, will I still be anonymous?
You're completely anonymous even when you're signed into your dreamslog. Thus, if you decide to switch over to sinsbox, you'll still be anonymous.

Sometimes, my post doesn't appear immediately. Why is that?
Dreamsbox has a pretty sophisticated filtering system that monitors each submitted post for materials that may jeopardize the anonymity of the poster. Sometimes people mistakenly submit materials like (1) email addresses (2) phone numbers (3) mailing addresses and (4) personal web sites, which could identify them or other people, so we try to filter these out in an effort to protect anonymity. All submitted posts get scanned by the filters and thus, sometimes, with thousands of people posting at once, we get a very slight delay in a post appearing immediately.

How does rating work? What do the ratings mean?
As you're reading a particular dream, you can rate it from a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being "excellent, I totally love this dream" and 1 being "horrible, I totally hate this dream."

How can I help?
You can help us build the world's largest dream database by actively sharing your dreams. Consider signing up for your own free dreamslog. You can also help spread the word by anonymously inviting friends. Simply type in your friend's email to the invite box located to the right and you will help us!

How can I recommend improvements?
We are constantly trying to improve our humble project. Recommendations are always welcome. Please write to ideas@dreamsbox.com. We reply to all emails and we certainly will bring your ideas up in our meetings. Thank you for your support!

Why are there ads on this site. Are you guys greedy capitalists?
No, we're actually not capitalists. Any pennies earned from ads go into supporting our humble project such as paying for servers. We also don't have jobs and so any money that is left over pays for our bread and cheese. No kidding. It's sad -- most of the time, we can't even afford cheese.

Why don't you allow posts to be broken up into paragraphs rather than just having them as huge chunks?
This is a huge debate that many members have emailed us about. Some feel that breaking up posts into paragraphs would be easier to read, especially posts that are long. Others love the idea that there is no line break in the posts, allowing for a more organized look and feel to the site. Internally, we have discussed this and agreed upon our original reason for not allowing any line breaks or paragraphs. The idea is we really want each post to be representative of stream of consciousness writing. We believe that in dreams everything happens very fast and randomly and the only sure way to record dreams accurately is through stream of consciousness, which allows people to touch upon recollections that may be hidden. Thus, for the time being, we think that the current format works fine. However, if more people want a change, we will certainly change it. Please email ideas@dreamsbox.com

When I type in a friend's email to invite them to visit dreamsbox, will they know who I am?
No. We really try to keep things simple. If you type in an email, regardless of whether or not you're logged into your dreamslog, we simply send one generic email to that person inviting them to dreamsbox. Nothing about you is mentioned since we don't know who you are in the first place. This email invite is sent only once per manual input unless you accidentally press the "invite a friend" button twice before the page processes.
